As stated recently by Decision Health, publisher of Part B News:  “Don’t find yourself in the same position as one Virginia practice: After years of letting a billing company handle their claims, the practice was presented with a $200,000 overpayment request. “

HBR has processed over 80 million ED visits since its founding and has been the trusted partner for physicians and hospitals alike.  Unlike other companies, HBR is primarily focused on emergency department physician (“EDP”) coding, billing and management services.  If an EDP or ED group is considering changing their current vendor whether that be the hospital’s internal coding and billing professionals or another third party billing vendor, HBR suggests that the EDP and/or his/her group consider the following “Top Ten List” of questions:

  • Would I recommend this company or service to a colleague?
  • Are the financial returns what I expect for our Practice?
  • Is the billing company's level of service to me top-shelf?
  • Are the billing company's reports  keeping me informed?
  • Is the billing company's senior management accessible to me?
  • Does the billing company provide excellent customer service to my patients?
  • Does the billing company really have expertise with ED physician documentation?
  • Does the billing company assist me with managed care negotiations?
  • Does the billing company offer in-service training to all my providers?
  • Do I have confidence that my group’s services are coded, billed and managed in full compliance with federal and state laws and regulations?
If the answer to two (2) or more of the questions above is “no”, then you need to call or contact HBR at 800-777-2455, ext. 6473, or 800-476-8646, ext. 2935, or .
